Nematoda

Image-1

This is a microscopic view of substrate that I took from a lake at the border of NC and SC. The circled organism is a nematode. It was squirming around the substrate, probably looking for food. This photo was taken around 2:00pm.

I’m unable to identify this organism any further than the phylum nematoda.

Fun Fact!

According to Pasteuria Bioscience, “nematodes are the most numerous multicellular animals on earth.” (http://www.pasteuriabio.com/nematode_facts.html)
